THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION ON THE LIPS OF THOSE WHO LEFT CHURCH, IS “HOW DO I HANDLE CHRISTIANS WHO CANNOT UNDERSTAND THAT LEAVING CHURCH IS OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WORD?” (Rev. 18:4.)
A short video tells it like it is.
“There is no such word in the Bible as church. The Greek word means ‘assembly.’ The Hebrew word means “the gathering, congregation, or assembly.” There is no such thing as a denomination in the Bible. There are no Catholics, Protestants, or offshoots such as Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses; masons, Baptists or none of these things. You are either a Follower of Christ or you are not a Follower of Christ. The gift is free. It costs you nothing but your pride and devotion. It costs no money at all and does not require a building. The building is not a gathering of believers. [It is a manmade church.]
“So, the next time somebody tells you, you need to be a member of a church, tell them the Bible says a gathering or ecclesia is when two or more are gathering in His Name. If I am talking to someone on a sandy beach, I am gathering. I am assembling. This is [Christ’s] congregation. And I do not have to pay you an extortion fee so you can have your church building.”
Þ At the bottom of this article and on the sidebar, you will find all the historical and Scriptural evidence of what the man in this video is saying.
“YES, BUT IT IS MUCH MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT TO LEAVE CHURCH. A BATTLE IS RAGING IN MY MIND.”
Are you thinking it might not be all bad to be part of the Harlot riding the beast? (Rev. 17 & 18) (All churches are part of Roman Catholic Church Christianity.) Yet, you cannot call yourself a “Christian” [‘Christian’ means ‘little (church) god and christ,] anymore because of all the horrors being committed there? Yet, feeling guilty, lost, disorientated, scared, and concerned about your own soul and the souls of your loved ones? Wondering where is God in all this?
The reasons why we left church must not have been to continue in some selfish sin such as fornication. It must have been because we were abused for righteousness and know the church system is corrupt, or because we feel lost and chained there and maybe, cannot even say why.
Usually, people decide to seriously pray about leaving church because they hunger for a deeper relationship with Jesus and are perplexed by so many oppressing doctrines and the lack of true spirituality that stunt their emotional or mind growth. The unbelievably strange spiritual manifestations scare them; they seriously doubt that the Holy Spirit works in that place. Believers from other denominations where the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the ministry of God’s holy angels are rejected, yearn to experience God as a Reality. Deep down, they know something is terribly wrong there. When they ask questions or speak against the wrong being done to them and other people, they get the cold shoulder. Or when they know they have to bring a real word from the Holy Spirit, they are rudely quieted. They tried really hard, but cannot find Biblical justification for the many man made norms and forms of the church system. They cannot believe that merely going to church is their ultimate destiny in life.
They knew for a long time it is impossible that Jesus shed His blood for them to warm the pews and listen to sermons that have no real spiritual depth or eternal value. Yet, the pastor/priest/minister forbids them to study any spiritual material except the literature of their church. The countless, boring church agendas smother God’s peace in their hearts. The pastor/priest/minister draws lots of money from their pockets, and control their time and family life without bringing real spiritual value to their lives.
And so, many believers turn their backs on “the church” because Rev. 18:4 commanded, “Come out of her, My people!” But now they feel so overwhelmingly guilty to “forsake” the many meetings! They can hardly contain their fear of “backsliding” and losing their salvation forever! They worry about their spouses and children, and what will happen to them without a spiritual support system!
Loneliness and isolation make life almost unbearable. They feel ashamed to say they left church when someone asks them where they fellowship. Some things begin to go wrong and they think they are cursed for not paying tithes to the church! Confusion about what is of God and what is sin, and where to go from here, is keeping them awake at night. They think they will never “make it on their own” because the church became their whole life. To make things worse, their church friends think they are backslidden and want nothing more to do with them. Some even say they have demons. They think they might have committed the “unpardonable sin” by leaving the church. They fear God has forsaken them and will never allow them to find peace.
Þ That is why, in the face of ‘Left-Church Syndrome,’ many believers decide to go back to the world by participating in its parties and other sinful pleasures. To many others, conformity to church religion seems a better choice than ‘losing it’ in the world. Some come out of church to start their own fellowships, but they bring all their favourite doctrines and church traditions with them to structure their own little church systems. Such little systems are usually worse than the recognized Christian institutions, because in these little church systems, the “chiefs” are usually greater despots than the clergy of organized religion because there is no ‘governing body’ over them, and all their “little Indians” still never come to the “knowledge of God’s truth” to fulfil their place in the body of Christ, (1 Tim. 2:3-5.)
This is not what Jesus had in mind when He called His end-time believers to separate themselves from the religious misconduct and false doctrines of the growing ecumenical church system of the One World Church. Jesus clearly commanded, “Come out of her, My people, [not just Roman Catholics or Jews but true believers from all denominations - separate yourself entirely from all her false norms, forms, and dogmas,] lest you share in her sins, and receive of her plagues…” (Rev. 18:4-5.)
Þ True believers must now face the reality: playtime in church is over. I believe, to signify the end of it all in this world, God concluded the Book of Revelation by saying, (22:11,) “He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; [because they refuse to listen and repent.] He who is filthy, let him be filthy still; [because they reject the complete truth of God’s Word and a total atonement of Christ.] He who is righteous [because of sincere faith in, and obedience to Jesus,] let him be righteous still. He who is holy [because he was brought “out of” darkness and steadfastly occupy his spiritual position “inside” the spiritual Kingdom of Jesus, 1 Pt. 2:9-10,] let him be holy still… (v. 20,) Surely I Am coming quickly… (v. 14,) Blessed are those who obey My [Moral Law] commandments, (Jn. 13:34,) that they may have the right to the Tree of Life, and may enter through the gates into the city. [Heaven.] But outside are dogs, [spiritual sleepers that are content in their compromising spiritual condition,] and sorcerers, [“for rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry, 1 Sam. 15:23,] sexually immoral, murderers [tongue-murderers and deceivers too,] and whoever loves and practices a lie.”
The arrival of the Bridegroom is at hand. The wise virgins are trimming the wicks of their lamps, [getting rid of personal sin, false doctrine, and soul-consuming religiosity so the flame of their lamps can burn higher and they can see more clearly in the darkness of deception,] and they are filling their lamps and vessels with oil, [true Holy-Spirit power through knowledge of, and obedience to the Truth of His Word,]” (Acts 5:32.)
Even rats have the common sense to abandon a sinking ship. Are Jesus’ believers not highly intelligent — apart from being taught, convinced and led by the indwelling Holy Spirit of all truth? God warned in Revelation chapters 17 & 18 that the entire church system will be destroyed. No one will escape the terrible things that are coming upon the world just before Jesus’ return.
This is why John prophesied doom over the future of the church system - not the spiritual body of Christ or their Biblical assembly, the “ecclesia,” (Rev. 18:9-20) It is a certainly, according to Revelation chapters 17-18, that the entire church system of idolatry and ungodliness, which was set up to replicate the “ecclesia,” will be destroyed. These two chapters do not speak only about the Roman Catholic Church, but about all her Protestant and other daughters, and other branches too; all those that are affiliated with her doctrines, norms, and forms.
John wrote, “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning… For in one hour [suddenly] her judgment will come… [and Babylon, the great harlot, will fall.” Ruling monarchs or presidents have always partnered with church clergies. They are the ‘beast’ from the sea or political world that the religious harlot of Revelation 17 & 18 is riding or steering.] For in one hour such [religious greatness and wealth] came to nothing… [for in her were… also] the bodies and souls of men [through all her murderous crusades through the ages, as well as through the spiritual destruction of her false doctrines, norms and forms.] “[Verse 14,] Then, the fruit that your soul longed for, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all.."
We must realize that everything the devil uses to scare us to return to church bondage (Gal. 5:1) was ingrained in our minds over time by the constant brainwashing with false doctrines, and by focusing all our attention on certain verses, which were uncontextually abused to control us. Satan will always play on such false beliefs to bring us back into religious bondage.
God is always to be found immediately and directly through sincere prayer and the context of His Scriptural Word, because the Holy Spirit speaks most clearly through the Truth of His written Word, (Jn. 1:1-14; Heb. 1:1-14.)
Jesus declared in Jn. 6:37, “… Him that comes to Me I will in no way cast out.” Jam. 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...." Jesus is with those who ask and search for a deep, true relationship with Him, (Mt. 7:7.) Of course the devil will attack us with doubt, fear, and confusion, (Jn. 10:10.) He will even send demons to make life miserable for us to turn us away from following Jesus in spiritual freedom, (Gal. 3:10-14.) But "greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world."
God’s Word will feed all His true believers to become strong in Christ; growing in knowledgeable of His True Word and personally experiencing the reality of the Holy Spirit of the Bible. Jesus is teaching us to take responsibility for our spiritual lives in Him, (Jude 1:20.) He will never let go of us while we seek His will and Word and wait on His leading, (Jn. 8:12.) Even under the Old Testament Covenant He promised His children, “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them, for the Lord your God, He is the One Who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you,” (Heb. 13:5.)
