You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free

However, the true Holy Spirit of the Bible is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, and does not need occult tricks and showmanship, or familiar spirits pretending to be holy angels, to do His work, (2 Cor. 11:3-4, 13-14.)

Refusing all such deliberate disobedience to His Word, Jesus commanded, “Nor by might, or by power, but by My Spirit...” Zech. 4:6.

In complete defiance of the True Holy Spirit of the Bible, these ‘deliverers’ follow “every wind of doctrine.”  As if personal faith in Jesus, the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, His blood-covenant, and the truth of God’s Word cannot, and do not set believers completely free, they force people to speak in tongues, (as if the signs and gifts of the Spirit can do what Jesus Himself is incapable of doing) — even if their ‘patients’ are able to repeat only one or two strange words, which can never be the flowing, free gift of tongues from the Holy Spirit, which He Alone gives as He wills, (1 Cor. 12:11.)

Why are they able to lead so many people astray; doing more harm to Jesus’ blood-bought souls than anyone can imagine?  Because they brainwash believers to be so disobedient to Jesus’ protective commandments in His Word, they deceive them to such an extent that that they pull them into the occult, not into the true Kingdom of God!

It is so important to realize that believers “are destroyed through a lack of knowledge,” and by disobedience to the Truth, because they bow the knee to all those who introduce themselves as priests, pastors, ministers, etc.)   It seems people do not know they must never submit to self-assumed, false spiritual authority, (Hos. 4:6; 1 Ths. 5:21; 1 Jn. 4:1-4.)

To Explain How these ‘Deliverers’ Work, Consider What Bob Larson Does wrote, “Consider [Roman Catholic Jesuit] Bob Larson’s description of his ministry to a person in bondage. The person had numerous “alters” (multiple personalities) as well as demonic bondage. This person with “dissociative identity disorder” [pure psychology lingo and completely foreign to Scripture,] had a demon called “Gatekeeper” who kept letting demons back in after they had [supposedly] been cast out. Larson describes the causes of such disorders and how he learned to speak to different identities within a person. He was dealing with a person who had alternate personalities called “Facilitator” and “Regulator.” Larson theorized that in this person demons could possess an “alter.”  Larson explains: In the realm of multiple personalities, there are good alters and bad alters.  Good alters are the part of the person’s consciousness that has acknowledged Christ as Savior. Bad, alters, for one reason or another, refuse to make that spiritual surrender. This complex situation leads to the following action for the spiritual technician: “Our task is to sort through the maze to gain the assistance of the good alters. Then we can attempt to win the bad alters to God.” Larson proceeded to have the alternate personality within his client help him identify the “dark ones” and went through an incredibly complex task of sorting out the demons and “alters” within this person.

“Larson then leads [the demon] “Facilitator” to Christ. Larson [supposedly] uncovers hidden memories, legal ground that the demons had, [allegedly through ancestor sin,] and the names of obscure demons. This is one prayer he used to help the victim find freedom: “I command that angels of God search out and torment the spirit of pain. I bind Pain to Regulator the demon, and command that both of them experience all the torment they’ve put on Adam.  I increase that torment seven times greater.”

Even people with superficial knowledge of the Scriptures can see that these practices are from the occult and great violations of God’s Moral commandments.  Deut. 18:10-14, “There shall not be found among you anyone who… practices witchcraft… or a medium, or a spiritist, [who calls up, and speaks to spirits to gain information from them,] or one who [pretends] to call up the dead, [because the dead knows nothing of this life anymore, these are evil spirits pretending to be disembodied human spirits; Eccl. 9:5-6.]  For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord…” Scripturally and in practice, no one except God Himself, can command His holy angels.  Holy angels are obedient to God Alone.  Moreover, no human being has the right, authority, or power to torment anyone – especially not spiritual beings!

Apart from the fact that demons are inherent liars and deceivers, God Himself strictly forbade people to act as “mediums,” and “spiritists,” who converse with demons and invite evil spirits to use them as mouthpieces, (Jn. 8:44; Deut. 18:10-13.)  Bob Larson and people like him, his ‘spiritual warfare’ team and all their affiliates are very dangerous people, assuming blasphemously God’s own authority and Supreme judgment over His creation and in particular, over holy and fallen angels.

Psychiatry, the Roman Catholic clerical collar and stole, special anointing oils and holy water…  What next?

Since the establishment of modern Pentecostalism in the early 20th century, where signs and wonders took centre stage, ‘Deliverance Ministries’ of all kinds were suddenly spawn.  (They mostly experience God through their unbiblical ‘baptism in the Holy Spirit’ with the so-called ‘evidence of speaking in tongues, not through the truth of His Word.)

‘These ‘deliverance ministries’ differ from Catholic exorcism in that they euphemise and twist demonic possession by calling it “spiritual oppression,” because they know very well that it is Scripturally impossible to belong to God and the devil at the same time.  They mostly operate during church services, allegedly casting out demons from believers publically, and in most embarrassing and chaotic ways, making a real spectacle of those in need of true, Holy Spirit inspired prayer, Bible truth and repentance, (Jam. 5:13-18.)  However, many also commit their ‘deliverance’ destruction on unwary people in private; imitating the dogmas and methodologies of clinical physiologists.  During the later years of these ‘ministries,’ even Calvinist (Dutch Reformed) and other ministers ‘under the collar’ joined this ‘deliverance’ crusade

“Some Deliverance Ministers also use the term "Exorcist", and wear the clerical collar that also incorporate a stole,” as seen in the photo of Bob Larson.  This type of ‘deliverance costume’ [how the demons must laugh at them!] was first used by Roman Catholics, then by Presbyterians, and now by Baptists and Pentecostals too - which proves the unifying of all churches under the banner of their spiritual ‘mother,’ the Roman Catholic Church.

In their attempt to supposedly cast out demons from believers, some Protestant ‘ministers’ also use ‘special’ anointing oils, crucifixes, their physical Bibles, and ‘holy water.’  [This water does not refer to Jesus, or to His Word, but to the pagan, Christianized, water god of Roman Catholicism.]  Where is al this showmanship demonstrated or commanded in the context of Scriptural Truth?  The Bible, per say, is an ordinary book written in ordinary ink.  It is not a book with magic powers.  It is only once we personally believe and accept the words written in the true context of the Bible as Spirit and Truth, or as the Words of Jesus Christ Himself, that the words in the Bible have spiritual meaning and power.  The Bible is all about personal faith in Jesus Himself and not about the so-called ‘power’ of the book itself.

These ‘deliverance’ ministries glean their doctrines and hysterical ‘deliverance’ methods from one anotherTherefore, they all built their ‘ministries’ on the perception that [even true] believers can be inhabited by demons — and most of their church members  probably are, should one judge according to the popularity of these ‘ministries.’  Allegedly, they have to cast out demons from these people because they gave ‘legal ground to the devil’ through the ‘inherited sin’ and ‘the evil bloodline of their forefathers,’ [the sin of their specific nation and families,] “childhood and other trauma, violence, and sexual sin against them such as molestation and rape.” [Wikipedia.]  The lack of repentance from personal sin against God and others hardly ever come into play.

Some ‘expert ministries’ tackle the problem of ‘deliverance’ through specific programs and Christian counselling.  Similar to, and mostly based on Hindu and Buddhist techniques and teachings, they probe the believer’s memory to find the underlying causes of problems to eliminate the demonic roots of behavioural, psychological, spiritual, financial, relationship and other problems.  Hence, many  call themselves Christian psychologists, while the impious teachings of physiology can never be reconciled with Jesus Christ and His true Word.  Just for clarity: This type of ‘deliverance’ is about psychology and subliminal occultism, and not the power of Scriptural Truth, Holy-Spirit leading, Godly love, support and fellowship.  Jesus commanded us to “weep with those who weep” and “carry one another’s burdens, thus fulfilling the Law of Love.”  To share our problems to help, teach, comfort, correct and support one another, is Godly and Scriptural.

Concerning the ‘slain-in-the-spirit’ chaos; screaming at people and demons in ‘deliverance,’ drunk-in-the-spirit and all the other most embarrassing things that happen in churches and private ‘deliverance,’ we must know that the True Holy Spirit of the Bible will never violate His Word.  Neither will He embarrass and humiliate us in public without a good reason, (read Mt. 18:15-20.)

Yet, it is frightening to see how people line up during church services for ‘deliverance;’ surrendering blindly to that person laying hands on them or touching them to make them fall over, or manifest a demon of some kind, which is then dealt with spectacularly in public.  We must be careful who we allow to lay hands on us to embarrass us before the watching world.  The laying on of hands have specific purposes in Scripture, which should only be done in clear Holy Spirit leading.  When someone ungodly lays hands on us, he or she can transfer evil spirits to us.  The opposite is also true: “Lay hands suddenly on no man…  keep yourself pure,” (1 Tim. 5:22.)

I cannot emphasise it enough:  God’s Word also commands us to remain in control of our minds and thoughts as far as possible, and that’s why we must never surrender to false authority or get drunk in any way!  We have to “be vigilant [against the schemes of the evil one,]” be watchful, sober minded, of a sound mind, and take captive our thoughts to obedience to Christ.  Our spirits must be subject to us and not the other way round, and we must do everything “orderly,” because God is not the author of chaos and confusion, (1 Pt. 5:8-9; 2 Tim. 1:7; 2 Cor. 10:5; 1 Cor. 14:31-32.)

The Holy Spirit will lead us and empower us with His Scriptural gifts to do His will, but always according to the truth of His Word. He will never override our free will. He empowers us with His gifts and ministry supernaturally, and/or through other true believers.  He never overpowers us and forces us to surrender to unscriptural authority and the twisting of His Most Holy Word.

The Real Holy Spirit is not the ringmaster of a circus. He is the Creator of His entire universeYet, even if we have unrepentant sin in our lives, He will speak gently and openly to us first, convincing and convicting us of all sin against His Moral Law of Love.  If we do not listen and remain unrepentant, He will speak to us privately through someone else. If we remain unrepentant even then, He will expose us in a civilized manner.  In this way, the Holy Spirit will bring us to shame with the motive of leading us to repentance; His comfort, and eternal life.  Or, if we choose to remain unrepentant, He will expose us for the safety of other people, (Jn. 16:8-11; Eph. 5:11; Mt. 18:15-20.)

Because the Holy Spirit of the Bible is the Most Holy God, He commands His children to live holy, and to conduct everything that relate to their lives in wisdom according to His Word, (1 Pt. 1:15-17.)  Paul commanded, “Live in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.  But fornication and all uncleanness or greediness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving thanks… Live circumspectly, [carefully, attentively,] not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil…

Understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not [bring shame on yourself and your family by getting] drunk with wine [or any other intoxicating spirit or drug that will turn your holy, moral behaviour into ungodliness and immorality — such as the so-called ‘spiritual drunkenness’ in churches,] for [in intoxicating your mind in any way] is dissipation; [forgetting your holy character and committing all kinds of shameful immorality,] but be filled with the Spirit.  [The Spirit will never behave like the immoral world does!  This is how we will behave if we are really filled with the Holy Spirit of the Bible:]  Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God, [and in everything good, holy, true, and Godly; obeying God’s Moral Law of Love in deed and truth,] (Eph. 5:4; 15-20.]

What about the supernatural experiences of those who were supposedly ‘delivered?’

There can be no doubt that something strange and supernatural is going on here.  These people are playing dangerous games.

The Sovereign, Omnipotent Holy Spirit definitely does miracles — and of course, He also uses the mighty ministry of His holy angels, who are always under His direct command and never under ours.  Nevertheless, we place ourselves in dreadful spiritual, emotional and physical danger if we disobey God, Who commands that we must never accept any spiritual teaching or manifestation at face value.  We must always “test and prove the spirits (and their ministers) to see whether they are of God,” (1 Ths. 5:21; 1 Jn. 1:1-4.)

The devil usually turns himself into an angel of light to deceive the unwary and disobedient to gain a foothold in their lives, (2 Cor. 11:3-15.)  By believing false doctrine and accepting the works of false spirits, our “minds can [actually be so] corrupted…  [That,] if one preaches another Jesus…  or if we receive another [‘holy’ spirit,] or another gospel, we may very well put up with it!”  (Gal. 1:6-10; 3:1.)

This is why we can say that, due to their extreme abuse of Scripture to justify their unscriptural practices, these so-called ‘deliverers’ are not under the control of the Holy Spirit of the Bible, and they are not ‘commanding’ God’s holy angels — which is totally impossible as God’s holy angels only submit to God Himself, (Ps. 103:20.)

These ‘deliverers’ are using the power of strange spirits on unwary believers.  Additionally, they are also using physiological techniques, which might seem supernatural to their ‘patients,’ but which could be pure ‘mind over matter.’

The ‘power of suggestion’ and ‘the placebo effect’ are very real.  For instance, if one believes the doctor is giving you a tablet to cure your cold, it might be only an aspirin, but because you so strongly believe it is a reality, you might feel you were instantly cured.  We can make ourselves believe anything, once we fall under the spell of illusionists and believe they possess special powers — and, of course, the work of that great illusionist the devil is never excluded from any type of deception.  Hence, Paul wrote in Gal. 3:1, “O foolish Galatians!  Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth…”

So, if that ‘deliverer,’ whom you respect and trust, states that demons are living in you and he is “casting them out” right now — and you believe it contrary to the truth of God’s Word… Who knows what the devil can make you believe you are experiencing as you open yourself to the “power of suggestion?”

The devil is a dangerous showman and liar.  Yet, if you believe his demons are, or were, living in you, (and only you yourself know how sincere  your relationship with Jesus was and is, ) he will show all kinds of signs to ‘prove’ that he is still, or was definitely, living in you.

See how dangerous these people and their lying father the devil are, once we step out from under the protective Truth of God’s Word?

Paul warned in 2 Ths. 2:9-10, “The coming of the lawless one [who does not respect the truth of God’s Word,] is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

The devil never plays games with anyone — except to entrap them in a prison where he tortures and murders them.  Jesus warned, “[Don’t be fooled,] the thief [never] comes [without the set intention] to steal [your liberty in Christ,] kill, and destroy.  But [praise our Father in  heaven,] I have come that [you] may have life, [liberty and blessing,] and that [you] may have it more abundantly,”  (Jn. 10:10.)

Many people ask, “I have strayed from Jesus and went to ‘deliverers’ to help me return to Him.  But now I am totally destroyed and do not know how He can ever accept me.  What must I do, as I can never live or survive without Him?  The devil refuses to let go of me.”

Mostly, such terribly confused and oppressed believers find it very difficult to believe that the demons were not living in them, due to the demonic control and manifestations they experienced.  Consequently, they find it almost impossible to believe that they can return to Jesus without any of the fuss of exorcism.

Now if you believe demons are (or were) living in you, they will ‘prove’ to you it is true, (as discussed above,) although it could have been a great hoax.  Probably, they attached themselves to you and you must stand your ground for them to realize your relationship with them is over.  But what does it matter now where they were?  Here, at this moment, as you make a sincere decision to return to Jesus, confess your sin in detail to Him although it might take the whole day; ask His forgiveness, and invite Him anew into your ‘heart,’ ‘soul,’ body and life — and what was done, no matter how bad it was, is over.  You have returned to your Father in heaven like the prodigal son who ate pig food, (Lu. 15:16-24,) and your Father forgave you and accepted you wholeheartedly.

You might have a battle to ‘prove’ to the devil that you meant what you said when you returned to Jesus, but he is a defeated foe.  You are now a true believer, and you cannot, cannot, cannot have demons living inside you!  “The blood of Jesus cleansed you [anew] from all unrighteousness, and the Holy Spirit is abiding in you,”  (1 Jn. 1:9; 2:20.)  Jesus does not share His holy temple with demons.

This is either the truth, or it is a lie.  You decide.  If it is true, believe it.  Tell it to the devil.  Tell it to yourself.  Stand on it and thank God for it.  Withstand the devil through the blood of Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit, (which means you rely and Jesus not on yourself.)  Live every moment in it.  The truth of God’s Word is your bread from heaven, which will nourish you and make you strong.  You must bury yourself prayerfully in Jesus’ presence and in the truth of His Word.  Study the Word in context.  Constantly renew your ‘mind’ (or thoughts) like Rom. 1:1-2 commands.

My own ‘deliverance’ experience

I had the immense privilege to have been God’s instrument in the lives of broken people for most of the 28 years that I follow Him.  At first, without any guidance except that which I received from such ‘deliverance ministries,’ I also bought into many of their twisting of Scripture and other deceptions, although by the grace of God, I never went to the modern ‘deliverance’ extremes, which we witness today.  I have confessed all transgressions of God’s Word as sin and asked His forgiveness and cleansing through the blood covenant of Jesus Christ.  Over the last few years, God has been bringing me to the truth concerning ‘deliverance’ and many other church deceptions, so that I can understand the Truth of His Word, and also help others to ‘know the truth, as the Truth will set [us all completely and eternally] free.’

My path to freedom from these ‘deliverance’ lies began as I eventually realized that my own ‘deliverance experience’ did nothing to free me from the presence of a threatening dark entity, which constantly haunted me since shortly after I gave my life to the Lord.  It was quite some time after I was supposedly ‘ministered to’ that I ‘dreamt,’ I was wrestling with a very strong, dark man.  As I woke, he rolled off the bed and went to stand at the foot-end of the bed.  I rebuked him in the Name of Jesus, but he did not move. I ‘pleaded the blood of Jesus,’ but he did not move.  And then, the Holy Spirit took control.  I spontaneously flung my arms in the air and began to praise God out loud.

Suddenly, a ‘lightning bolt’ shot into the room – and he was gone.

I believe God sent a mighty angel to remove him from me.  I do not know where he came from and why he harassed me for so long before God took him away.  What I do know, is that he did not live in me; not in my mind or anywhere else in my body.  I believe Satan, knowing that I have God’s calling on my life, sent him to harass and scare me into turning back to my old life, as I was, at the time, as a new-born baby in the Kingdom of God, experiencing immense persecution from all sides.  God allowed it all to prove my loyalty to Him.

Besides this miraculous experience with the One and Only Deliverer, Jesus Christ, I also witnessed so much of the catastrophic chaos in churches, the humiliation and maltreatment of people in need, and the fact that nearly all the same people that were ‘delivered’ last week, were back the following week, while their problems constantly mounted.  I began to seriously doubt that such a thing as a ‘deliverance ministry’ exists, and turned wholeheartedly to Jesus’ Scriptural truth.  This is the truth that cannot and will never fail us, because Jesus Himself said, “You shall know the truth [of My Word and power, and of your particular situation,] and the truth shall set you free.”

Today, many years later, God, in His infinite grace, is still sending broken, utterly confused people to me.  People, often devoid of any Scriptural truth and polluted with so many false prophesies, dangerous deliverance techniques, and outright lies about Scripture, that only Jesus Christ Himself can put these broken, (said with respect to all those who are victims of these deceivers,) Humpty Dumpties together again.

They teach afflicted people that their born again human spirits are clean, but their souls or minds are filled with demonic strongholds where demons dwell, which have to be cast out, right?  (I also fell for this clever deception in the beginning.)   This is wrong, because the marvelous Word of God actually says that deceptions can be erected in the minds (or thoughts) of born again saints, or true, blood-washed believers.  Believers can be deceived,  not because demons can live in the ‘brains’ or minds in ‘fortified castles,’ but because our thoughts or beliefs still have to be ‘changed’ to be constantly “renewed” from believing the deceptions we were taught in the kingdom of darkness, to knowing the perfect will of God, (2 Cor. 10:4-6; Rom. 12:1-2; 1 Pt. 1:13-19.)

Long before we decided to accept and follow Jesus personally, (Jn. 1:12-13,) the Holy Spirit was already speaking His truth into our thoughts so that we could recognize deception and other disobedience to Scripture, and distinguish between Biblical Truth, lies, and twisted truth. (The work of the Holy Spirit is to “lead us into all truth,” which He will continue throughout our lives on earth IF we allow Him to lead us, and IF we follow Him obediently.)  And so, in the beginning, as we began to choose to obey His voice, He convinced us of sin, righteousness, and ultimately of judgment, should we not obey Him and repent from the deceptions, which keep us away from God, (Jn. 16:7-11.)  Consequently, many sinful beliefs already fell before we could decidedly accept Jesus' truth and be saved.

Paul nullifies the claim of fortified ‘castles’ in our ‘brains.”  In 2 Cor. 10:4-6 and through Scripture, Paul never even suggested that we must “cast out demons” from our physical brains or minds – because even if demons were living there, demons would still not be the real problem.  We ourselves, by choosing to believe a lie or continue in other types of sin, caused the problem, and we also continue to nurture the problem if we do not  come to the truth of it all and repent

All sinful beliefs and thoughts were not automatically changed when true believers were “called out” or removed from the kingdom darkness and brought spiritually into God’s Kingdom of Light through the Scriptural rebirth, (1 Pt. 2:9-10; Jn. 1:12-13; 3:3-5.)  Therefore, spiritually born again believers still have to “be transformed by the renewal of their minds, or actually, the renewal of their thoughts,” not “conforming to the [religious] world,” which is merely believing church doctrines that make people into spiritually dead church members, (Rom. 12:1-2.)   Peter, (in 1Pt. 1:9; 13-15,) calls this process of mind-renewal, “the end of your faith – the salvation of your souls,” or minds, which contain your will, intellect and emotions, (1 Ths. 5:23.)  “Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you [at the return of Christ,] as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance, but as He Who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct…”

A completely new life has dawned for all those who decided to choose Jesus as their personal Life, Light, Way, and TruthPaul marvelled in Gal. 2:19-21, “For I, through the [New Testament Covenant] died [completely] to the [old ceremonial, ritual, temple] law that I might live to God. [Actually, I died to the religion, culture, beliefs, deceptions and ceremonies of my inherited religion, because, in Christ, I was spiritually made alive to freely inherit a new position in God’s Kingdom of salvation, redemption (or freedom,) and blessing.  [I already have all of this in Christ now!] I have been crucified with Christ, [as far as all influences of deception, as well as my own sinful thoughts and behaviour are concerned, therefore, that old deceived person from the kingdom of darkness does not live anymore,] because Christ lives in me.  The life which I now live in the flesh, [physically and emotionally,] I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness, [salvation, redemption or freedom and blessing] comes through the [the Old Testament, ceremonial law,] then Christ has died in vain,” (Gal. 2:18-21.)
