The Following is an Extract of the free Book, Relationship Versus Religion

Humankind’s cataclysmic spiritual death in the Garden in Eden, cursedness, and immeasurable soulical (mind) corruption, occurred instantly when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in Eden.  Consequently, death and devastation filtered through to every aspect of humanity’s physical lives as well, indwelt even their descendants, and proliferated on this planet.  (Read Romans chapters 2 and 3.)

It is important to realize that theft, murder, lies, and every other transgression of God’s Moral Law are ‘merely’ symptoms of this deadly spiritual disease called “sin,” which all of humanity is born into.  To convert to a church with its manmade dogmas and live a ‘good’ religious life can never cure this killer infection.  All kinds of religiosity are futile attempts to treat the fatal symptoms of this spiritual illness.

‘Sin’ is described by the word “hamartia,” meaning ‘from sin,’ and “hamartanö,” meaning ‘to miss the mark’ or ‘to fall short of the glory of God.’  Since that day in Eden, hamartia and hamartanö became the essence of humanity’s existence on earth.  Hamartia and hamartanö [the fallen state without God] separated humanity from God and entombed them in a position or place of spiritual death, sin, and cursedness.

However, it was never God’s will that darkness should rule over humanity’s life here on earth.  In the beginning, when God created male and female human beings, (Gen. 1:27-28,) He planned that they would live in a loving relationship with Him and with one another without death, sickness, sorrow, and needless toil marring any part of their perfect lives.

To fulfil God’s vision for humanity, there had to be a new beginning for humankind after the fall.

A rebirth.

New life in the presence and under the blessing of God.

As hamartia and hamartanö means 'from the being of sin,' and 'to miss the mark and not to share in the prize,’ every sincere believer has to be personally and spiritually born again into God’s New Testament Covenant in Christ, just as Adam was created into his perfect relationship with God in Eden, (Rev. 22:17; Jn. 1:12-13; 3:3-5.)

Hence, 1 Pt. 2:9-10 states, “[Everyone who sincerely accepted Jesus, is part of] a chosen [spiritual] generation, royal  priesthood, holy nation.  His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him Who called you out of [the kingdom of] darkness into His [spiritual Kingdom] of marvelous light,” (Col. 1:13-14.)

A newborn baby cannot bring anything into this world.  Nothing in the sphere of the womb means anything in this new life.  It would profit the baby nothing to cling to anything of the old life inside the womb.  The world inside the womb and the world outside the womb can never overlap each other.  Leaving everything behind, the baby has to accept everything this new life outside the womb has to offer.  The baby has to embrace the new life and grow in it; otherwise the child will never be able to live in this new world, or to grow into a responsible, mature person, (Eph. 4:17-24; Col. 3:9-17.)

Similarly, our human spirit, (comatosed by instant spiritual death at the fall,) must become alive, or be born again through faith in Jesus Christ, and by our personal, individual and willing acceptance of His complete fulfilment of the Dual Law in our place.  (The Old Testament Law was actually comprised of (1) the outward, ceremonial temple laws and (2) the inward, Moral Law of Love.)  Thus, the rebirth in Christ is the only way to escape hamartia and hamartanö, or complete separation from God, to become sinless, blessed, spiritual human beings again, (Rom. 3:23-24; Eph. 2:8-9; Jn. 4:23-24.)

That’s why Christ Jesus commanded, in Jn. 3:3,5b-6: “Except you are [spiritually] born again, you cannot see [or understand] the kingdom of God…  Except you are born of water, [the power of the Gospel, the truth of the New Testament Covenant in Christ, of which water baptism for true disciples is only the symbol], and of the Spirit, [the conviction and supernatural work of the Holy Spirit], you cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; [carnal,] that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” – Jn. 6:63.

John wrote in 1:12-13, “As many as received Him [wholeheartedly], to them He gave power to become the children of God…  Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” And Paul stated in 2 Cor. 5:17 and in Gal. 2:20, “If anyone is in Christ, he [or she] is a new-born creation.  Old things, [the cursed sin-state of the former physical life without Christ], have passed away, behold, all things have become [spiritually] new…  I am crucified with Christ: [hamartia, the old position or state of sin containing my sinful deeds and desires is dead], nevertheless I live [physically and spiritually]; yet not I, but Christ lives in me.  And the [new] life which I now live in the flesh [as a physical human being,] I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”

Only those who live spiritually can see, experience and enter into, (belong to, share in) the spiritual kingdom of God.  Only born again believers can truly understand God’s Word, way and will.

Only those who live spiritually and show the fruit of it are the children of God, (Jn. 6:63; Rom. 8:5-17.)

Spirit calls and answers only to spirit.

Humankind has to live spiritually to be in contact with God the Spirit, (Jn. 4:23-24.)

All other so-called doorways to God and His heaven are cheap imitations of knowing and following Christ Jesus Himself.

To be born again, we need to realise and confess that we are sinners in a spiritually dead position without God.  Each one of us personally needs the one, true Savior to escape from our intolerable condition of hamartia and hamartanö: Rom. 3:21-24; 10:6-13.  Jesus paid our entire state of sin and cursedness so that we may ask God’s forgiveness and come into a right standing with Him: Eph. 1:7; 1 Jn. 1:8-10.

We can do absolutely nothing to save ourselves; be redeemed (or become free) and blessed — except call on His Name and truly believe in His completed work in your place: Isa. 53:3-10; Rom. 10:9-13; Gal. 3:10-14.

Once we understand Who the Lord Jesus Christ really Is and what He has done for each one of us personally, we must actively decide to accept Him into our hearts, (or spirits), souls (or minds), and into our lives by executing the free will that God had given us.  This is not “working for our salvation” or “adding to the completed work of Christ,” as some might say.  This is our personal responsibility - the decision to obediently repent of our old, sinful life and all our false beliefs, to turn wholeheartedly to Christ.

God will not choose for us; this has to be our own decision.

Obedience is always a personal choice and it has nothing to do with our emotions.

If we decide to accept the Christ, we need to confess it out loud and ask Him to be our personal Savior and Redeemer.  Then we only need to thank Him and always believe that He hears and answers us, because He does - Rom. 10:9-10; Eph. 4:22-24.

The rebirth is neither catechetical, nor ceremonial.  It is a sincere call and prayer from the heart.  All that it requires is for someone to bring us this wonderful news.  The Holy Spirit and the Word will do all that is necessary: Jn. 16:7-14; 6:63.

The moment we sincerely accept Jesus and His atoning work in our place, our spirits are born again into the kingdom of God.  From that moment on, God will be our personal Father and we can worship Him in spirit and in truth: Jn. 1:12-13; 4:23-24.

Humankind decided to disobey God and to eat of the forbidden fruit in Eden.  They took Satan’s nature, seed or ‘DNA’ inside them and they died.  Likewise, humankind must voluntarily decide to  obey Jesus’ New Testament Covenant to accept or ‘take in’ God’s Nature, Seed or ‘DNA’ to live spiritually again.

We must ‘eat’ spiritually of Jesus, the Tree of Life and the Bread from Heaven, to regain the truthful, loving nature of God.  Those who decide to eat of Him will live forever. “I assure you,” Jesus said in Jn. 6:53-56, “you cannot have any [spiritual] life in you unless you [spiritually] eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood.  He who [continually] feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up from the dead on the last day.  For My flesh is genuine food, and my blood is genuine [spiritual] drink.”

The physical fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil killed humankind spiritually and destroyed them emotionally and physically; the physical fruit of the Tree of Life, the atoning work of the man Jesus Christ, brings humankind back to “abundant spiritual life” of God, (Jn. 10:10.)  The only way to escape hamartia or the place/position/state without God, is through His completed, atoning work.  Consequently, Jesus declared in Jn. 14:6: “I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes unto the Father, but by Me.”

Humankind cannot join God’s church or kingdom; they have to be born into it.

God reversed the sad situation of Eden by giving His only “begotten” Son in their place, (Jn. 3:16.)

But born again believers do not only walk with the Spirit as Adam and Eve did.

God had a far better plan for them.

During the Old Testament Covenant, the Holy Spirit did not live on the inside of God’s believers; He only worked from the outside or “came upon” them temporarily to equip them for a specific task, (Judges 15:14; 1 Sam. 16:13.)

However, in the beginning of the New Testament Covenant, shortly after Jesus’ death, resurrection and ascension, the Holy Spirit came to convince the whole world; every person on earth, that they are in a state of sin and cursedness; that Jesus is the Christ or Savior; and that they will spend eternity in hell without an obedient relationship with Him.

On the Day of Pentecost, (Acts 2:1-21,) the Holy Spirit came to earth to, “until the end of the world,” (Mt. 28:19-20,)  consistently and constantly indwell every believer, who voluntarily chose Jesus as his or her Christ or Savior.  In this way, as a free Gift from the Father, the Spirit makes every born again believer His Personal temple: His spiritual tabernacle.  The Spirit of Truth came to lead all His obedient, born again believers into “he whole truth.”  He is the “Spirit of Truth;” the Personal Spiritual Guide, Comforter, Teacher and Helper of every true believer who choose to follow Him into “all truth,” (Jn. 7:38-39; 14:16-17, 26; 16:7-14; 17:3; Acts 2; 1 Cor. 6:19; Mt. 18:20; 28:20.)

For this reason, the born again person does not merely walk with the Spirit as Adam and Eve did in Eden, he or she walks in the Spirit.  “Because you are His children [through the personal rebirth],” Paul explained in Gal. 4:6-7 and in Rom. 8:9b-16, “God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, [your born again human spirits], crying, Father…  Now if any person has not the Spirit, he or she is none of His.  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [because we personally accepted Jesus], and if children then heirs…  of God, and joint heirs with Christ…”

All Scripturally born again believers together make up the universal spiritual temple of God, because the Holy Spirit continually indwells each one personally, and they are the one and only, genuine body of Jesus Christ:  His holy bride.

“Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” Paul asked in 1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19.  And he proclaimed in 1 Cor. 12:27: “You are the body of Christ, and members in particular.” - Eph. 4:15-16; 5:23-27.

Jesus declared in Mt. 18:19-20: “For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there I am in the midst of them, [through My Spirit Who indwells them.]”

Jesus Christ manifests Himself in the midst of two or three sincere believers because His Spirit lives in them; parts of His temple are gathered together.  They do not have to congregate in large numbers in a physical temple anymore.  Every born again believer is His temple in particular and two are His temple when they meet.

Vast numbers of mere followers were never Jesus’ aim for His spiritual body of believers.  He intended that His body of born again believers should live in sincerity and holiness — and in a constant, living relationship with Him, (Lu. 12:32.)

The Holy Spirit and born again believers bear witness together and work together, (Rom. 8:16.)  The Spirit does not inhabit true believers to make their choices and to do their work for them.  The Spirit leads us, (He does not drive us the way Satan does); He gives us spiritual strength and direction, which flow from our born again spirits into our minds or souls.  He empowers us with revelation-knowledge of His Word to understand and to do the will of the Father, (Rom. 8:13-14; 12:1-2.)

The born again spirit is a Centrum where every sincere believer meets God the Father in worship and in prayer, and where God Personally speaks to each believer individually.  Everything we discuss with God, must ultimately be communicated in and through our born again spirit, the Personal dwelling place of the Holy Spirit – God’s inner sanctuary – on the inside of every truly born again believer, (Rom. 1:9.)

Those who are spiritually alive, already have the Holy Spirit inside them, because every individual, born again believer is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

God’s temple is never empty.

It is either the dwelling place of the Spirit, or the person does not live spiritually, (Rom. 8:9b.)

As a result, it is clear that the Spirit immediately, completely and constantly indwells the blood-cleansed, born again human spirit of every person who truly accepted Jesus, (Gal. 4:6-7.)

That is why every sincerely born again disciple-believer of Jesus already have all of the Holy Spirit’s anointing or power inside his or her human spirit or heart.’

1 Jn. 2:20, 27, “You [already] have [present tense] an anointing from the Holy One…  The anointing which you have received [past tense, when you sincerely accepted Jesus,] abides [stays] in you…”

Thus, neither the Holy Spirit Himself, nor any of His power or the manifestation of His spiritual gifts, can be “given” by any human through the laying on of hands.  Of course we must pray for one another, and we may ask our Father for His spiritual gifts — but “he Holy Spirit distributes to each one individually [His gifts] as He wills,”  (1 Cor. 12:4-11.)
