You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free
DOES GOD SAVE AND LOVE US “UNCONDITIONALLY” – AND IS THERE SUCH A THING AS ‘ETERNAL SECURITY, WHICH TEACHES THAT WE REMAIN SAVED EVEN THOUGH WE REFUSE TO REPENT FROM PERSONAL SIN?
This debate is not about the Eternal, Full, and Completed atonement of Jesus Christ in our place, or the saved, redeemed, and blessed position or spiritual place true believers occupy in the spiritual Kingdom of God. No one can dispute the fact that Jesus said, “It is finished,” as He died on that cross. Our atonement is complete; no one and nothing can ever add to it or subtract from it.
However, the allegation that we “add” to His full atonement in our place by standing on all Jesus’ own Moral-Law warnings and commandments in the New Testament, cannot be warranted in the contextual truth of the entire New Testament, and in the whole Bible. Therefore, this is about our personal responsibility to obey His only New Covenant/Testament Law: the Moral or Royal Law of Love, (Jn. 13:34.) “If you abide in My Word, you are truly My disciples,” (Jn. 8:31.) “I you love Me, keep my [New Testament/Covenant/Moral Law] commandments,” (Jn. 14:15.) “He who says, ‘I know Him’ and does not keep His [New Testament/Covenant/Moral Law] commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him,” (1Jn. 2:4.) “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word; and My Father will love Him, and We will come to him and make Our home in him,” (Jn. 14:23.)
If we could only accept Jesus and carry on sinning, and refuse to see that the wages that sin pays is eternal death because Jesus atoned for us in full, we would have to rewrite the entire Bible, and omit the New Covenant Words of Jesus especially. God gave the entire truth of Scripture for believers. Where Jesus speaks of the broad and narrow ways, the sheep and the goats, and the five wise and five unwise virgins, He is not referring to the world without Christ versus the 'church.' He is speaking to His believing disciples. He is saying that Scriptural Truth and the Moral Law was given to obey. Disobedience to His Law of Love prove that we are 'goats,' and obedience, however imperfect but striving towards perfection, proves that we are 'sheep.'
The entire Bible warns that, left unrepented, sin will give Satan a hold on our thoughts and lives to separate us from God. Lured back deep enough into the state of sin and bondage, we will eventually choose not to remain inside the Kingdom of Light. Eventually, we, by our own decisive choice, will lose our blessed, saved, redeemed position in the Kingdom of God and return to our previous, sinful state as a “dog returns to its vomit,” (2 Pt. 2:22; Prov. 26:11.) How can anyone misinterpret and reject Jesus' own warnings throughout the Gospels as 'eternal security' without personal obedience? Can Jesus Himself be so confused as to command obedience to His Scriptural Truth without meaning what He says?
The following is an extract from my book, “Dealing with Abuse & Abusers God’s Way.”
The doctrine known as the “unconditional love and the unconditional acceptance of God,’ “eternal security” or the “once saved always saved” belief, stems from the completely unbiblical, Calvinist doctrine, also known as “the perseverance of the saints,” and is grounded in the false Roman Catholic/Calvinist/Lutheran doctrine of Predestination.
The truth about the so-called “unconditional love of God” is that love, (any type of love) without conditions, boundaries, or limitations is definitely not from the God of the Bible. Additionally, our “unconditional” love FOR God or anyone else cannot exist; humanity is simply incapable of such damaging love – and Almighty, All-wise; All-knowing God is too holy and righteous to ever love in such a corrupted way.
Of course we live by grace in Christ and have no spiritual merit of our own whatsoever, but because Godly love cannot exist in, or attached to sin, God gave us The Perfect Way to heaven: His Love, the Lord Jesus Christ; the power and leading of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the truth of His entire Word, (Jn. 3:16; 14:6; Rom. 8:6-10.) In fact, God commands us to repent from all sin because it damages the precepts of His Guiding Moral Law of Love. (Jn. 13:34.) Hence, it is correct to believe that God loves the sinner while He hates the sin, (Rom. 6:11-14; 22-23.) And if the sinner and his sin cannot be parted by the blood-covenant of Christ and the conviction and power of the Holy Spirit, both sinner and sin will have to depart from the holy presence of God, (Mt. 7:21-24.)
This is an unchangeable truth of God’s Word, which sin-loving, ‘once-saved-always-saved’ believers never want to hear. However, nothing that I write is to entertain false beliefs and false hopes, but to bring all people, myself included, into a closer walk with God through the truth of His Word — which is the basis of all real Holy-Spirit power.
1 Jn. 4:10 explains, “In this is the love of God: not that we loved God, but that He loved us [first] and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” ‘Propitiate’ means, ‘to win somebody’s favour.’ This means, God totally rejected all of humanity in their fallen state or lost position of sin, as sin cannot enter the most holy presence of God. That is why Jesus had to fully atone for all our sins to ‘win favour’ with God the Father for us and in our place! As a result, God’s love for all people is fully revealed in and through the ‘propitiation’ or atonement of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. As such, Jesus is the ONLY Way to the Father, and NO ONE comes to God EXCEPT through Him.
This proves that Salvation, Redemption, and Blessing are as CONDITIONAL as can be! No one will ever come to God the Father in or through anyone or anything else. There is only One God and One Mediator between God and man: the Man Jesus Christ, (Jn. 14:6; 1 Tim. 2:5.)
Nevertheless, if we love ourselves ‘unconditionally,’ it means we set no limits on our behaviour towards God and others — and we know that God commanded us to love, [love in truth and deed,] Him above all else, and our neighbours as ourselves. However, if we love ourselves unconditionally, we will tolerate no criticism and fear of God; no punishment for bad behaviour, and we will do exactly as we please, expecting God and man to love us ‘unconditionally,’ although we abuse them unrepentantly.
To love others unconditionally, would mean that we set absolutely no conditions or boundaries for our relationships with other people. We do not care how others treat us; we accept even the worst treatment without the slightest complaint, self-preservation, or retaliation. Well, if “unconditional” love could exist, it would be a complete annihilation of God’s “first and greatest commandment of the Moral Law to love God with ALL our heart, soul or mind, and all our strength,” and “to love our neighbours AS ourselves!” (Mt. 22:36-40.) Scripturally, God never leaves any room for “unconditional love.” In short, unconditional love does not exist!
THE ISLAMIC/CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE OF PREDESTINATION IS THE BASIS FOR THE “ETERNAL SECURITY” OR ONCE-SAVED-ALWAYS SAVED DOGMA
No one simply ‘thinks up’ a false doctrine. All false doctrine comes from the father of all lies, (Jn. 8:44.) For centuries, Protestants have been injected with all the lies of Reformers such as Luther and John Calvin; the Dutch Reformed and other Calvinist/Protestant churches. If you believe in ‘eternal security’ you have to know that it is a vital component of Calvinism’s Predestination dogma. Gleaned from paganism and incorporated into the Roman Catholic Church by their so-called ‘saint’ Augustine of Hippo; Protestant fathers John Calvin, Martin Luther, and their followers teach this very dangerous doctrine to this day. The Roman Catholic ‘church father’ Augustine and Protestant ‘church father’ John Calvin both believed that God alone decides the eternal destination of every individual without respecting any of man’s personal choices.
Calvin actually taught particular atonement, which means that Jesus died only for the ‘elect;’ the so-called ‘chosen’ members of Calvinism, or the ‘chosen’ members of the Dutch Reformed Church and her affiliates. Calvinist membership, and not solely the Biblical blood-atonement of Jesus Christ, gives adherents of this religion a chance to enter into heaven – but their god had to decide beforehand either to choose the individual to inherit eternal life or to damn him to eternal punishment in hell!
The Muslim doctrine of predestination also teaches that most of humanity is damned and only a small number are predestined or foreordained to enter into heaven. Muslims believe that Allah alone decides who goes to hell and who doesn’t; no matter what they do or neglect to do, they have absolutely no say in the matter. Predestinating Allah even chooses the measure of sin which man has to commit, and thus, no matter what he does or does not do, no one can ‘snatch’ him out of Allah’s hand: “Verily Allah has fixed the very portion of adultery which a man will indulge in, and which he of necessity must commit (or there would be no escape from it).” – [Sahih Muslim Book 033, Number 6421, 6422 or The Kitab-ul-Qadr, the Book of Destiny, Book 003, Chapter 5, no. 6421/22.] (Please remember that Allah is not the God of the Bible!)
The ‘Eternal Security’ doctrine is only a component of this dreadful “man has no free will to use concerning the things of God” doctrine of Predestination, which is taking over the souls of Jesus’ believers too! As in Roman Catholic/Calvinist predestination, this actually means that, as the dual god of religion forces his disciples to sin morally, immorality is not the personal responsibility of the religionist and has nothing to do with his salvation. In fact, in their personal lives, most adherents of Islamic and Christian predestination believe they may live morally whichever way they choose, as long as they adhere to the ritual path of their religion or Christian church! As a result, these religionists never meditate on their condition of sin or their responsibility to repent from personal sin.
Some deviations from Judaism do teach predestination, while most Jewish teachers believe that predestination conflicts with the God-given free will, and personal responsibility of humankind. But sadly, that Muslim doctrine of predestination belongs to Christianity as well. Louis Berkhof described the doctrine of predestination as, “The eternal decree of God whereby He has determined to pass some men by with the operations of His special grace, [without allowing them any choice in the matter,] and to punish them for their sins, to the manifestation of His justice.” Brian G. Mattson wrote, “Lutherans, on the other hand, teach that while God in eternity past did indeed elect a people for himself whom he would actively save in the outworking of history, he did not decree that the rest of mankind would absolutely be lost and reprobate them to eternal hell. That is, while affirming election, Lutherans reject reprobation [or Divine rejection.] God refrained from electing some men to salvation, but at the same time did not actively decree their continuation in sin, and ultimate suffering as a consequence.”
"DEVIL'S FAITH:" GOD'S TRUE WORD CALLS 'ETERNAL SECURITY' OR ONCE-SAVED-ALWAYS-SAVED DOGMA, (FAITH WITHOUT OBEDIENCE TO HIS MORAL LAW OF LOVE,) THE KIND OF FAITH THAT DEMONS HAVE
The book of James states: "What does it profit... if someone says he has faith but does not have [Moral Law] works? [Jn. 13:34.) Can such faith save him? If [someone] is [really] naked and hungry, and one says, [I bless you and pray for you...] but [does not help,] what does his faith profit him? Thus faith by itself, if it does not have [Moral law] works, is dead... You believe that there is One God. You do well. Even the demons believe [without obeying Him] and they tremble! [Because their chosen destiny is eternal hell.] Don't you know, o foolish man, that faith without [obedience to God's Moral Law of Love] is dead? Was Abraham justified by works when he offered Isaac...? Do you see that faith was working together with his [obedient] works, and by works [OUR PERSONAL FAITH NOT THE FULL ATONEMENT OF CHRIST] WAS MADE PERFECT? ...You see then that a man is justified by [obedient Moral law] works and not by faith [in Jesus Himself and in His full atonement] only... For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
Yet, some Protestant churches even go as far as to reject entire New Testament books such as James, which absolutely refute the doctrine of Predestination, or Eternal Security. The entire New Testament Covenant stands on the fact that humanity has a God-given free will to choose Jesus and His full atonement in their place. Then, they must choose to follow Jesus through obedience to His only New Testament law, the Royal or Moral Law of Love, because, as the body without the human spirit is dead, so faith without obedience to the commandments of Christ is dead, (Jam. 2:15-26; Jn. 14:15; Jn. 8:31; 1 Jn. 2:4.)
HERE ARE THE SCRIPTURAL FACTS THAT PROVE THAT THE 'UNCONDITIONAL LOVE OF GOD IS A LIE
There is salvation through only One Mediator, Jesus Christ, and those who are in Him, freely inherit, without any addition to His completed work on the cross, eternal salvation, redemption and blessing. However, His children must also choose to keep God’s New Covenant Word; (the various precepts of His Moral Law of Love,) and obey the leading of His Holy Spirit in all things, (Rom. 8:14.) We do not obey Him to earn anything, but to ‘prove’ to ourselves and others, (God already knows everything,) to Whom we belong. So, faith without Moral-Law words is dead, (Jam. 2:26, 1-25) Worthless, demonic faith without obedience to God’s New Covenant Word can never save, redeem, bless, or keep anyone, as we cannot occupy our place/position in Jesus Kingdom of Light and Truth through sanctimonious, disobedient faith.
Hence, Jesus seriously warned in Mt. 24:12-13, 7:21-24, “Because lovelessness will abound [in the end of the end-days,] the love [or true obedience to God and care for others] will grow cold. But he who endures to the end [in Godly love or obedience to God’s Moral Law of Love] will be saved… Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who DOES the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in That Day ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied... cast out demons... and done many wonders in your Name?’ And I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you: depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” This warning of Jesus is the guideline for our relationship with God and with all other people.
The following, sent to me by an always-saved disciple, whom I love dearly but who rejected me for this truth, are classic examples of what I am saying. When Paul wrote that “nothing will separate us from the love of God,” he was referring to trials and tribulation, not to our personal, unrepentant sin. Throughout all his epistles he reminded us that following the lusts of the flesh is “enmity” with the indwelling Holy Spirit and that the wages, which all unrepentant sin pays, is eternal death, (Rom. 8:6-10.) We will all have to give an account of all our deeds before the judgment throne of Christ – and this does not relate to unbelievers, but to all the members of the body of Christ, (2 Cor. 5:10.) Unbelievers without Jesus are already condemned because they rejected the Only Truth, Way, and Life; and so, they chose eternal damnation for themselves.
Jesus’ separation between the five wise and five unwise virgins; the goats and the sheep; [not unbelievers and believers, but disobedient and obedient believers, because the Bible was written for believers,] the parable of the weed and tares, (Mt. 13:24-43,) of the talents, (Mt. 25:1-30,) and in fact, all His other teachings, warn that our disobedience will lead us to “the outer darkness and into eternal fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Here are some of the verses, which supposedly prove the 'unconditional love of God,' while they actually prove the direct opposite. Rom. 8:1 - “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, [in unrepentant sin] but after the Spirit; [and if they do not walk after the Spirit, Jesus’ warning in Mt. 7:21-24 will apply to them.]” Rom. 8:31-33 - “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [But if you walk after the flesh there will be condemnation for you.]" We are only "more than conquerors through him that loved us" IF we obey the Spirit and follow Him according to the truth of His Moral Law of Love. 1 Cor 6:19 - “Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? [However, verse 17 fearfully states, “And if anyone defiles the temple of God, God will DESTROY him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are."
In fact, 1 Cor. 6:9-20 warns, "Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners [or any unrepentant sinner] will inherit the [spiritual] Kingdom of God," [which is inside you. And no unrepentant believer will enter into eternal Life, or heaven.]
IS THERE THE SLIGHTEST CHANCE THAT ANY BELIEVER CAN CONTIUE IN SIN KOWINGLY AND UREPENTANTLY, AND STILL INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN?
Let God Himself have literally the last Word to settle this matter once and for all.
Revelation 22:13-16, “I Am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. Blessed are those who DO [My Moral-Law] commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, [Jesus’ presence at His throne in heaven,] and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs, [sleepers instead of worshipers and workers,] and sorcerers, [who make witchcraft of His Truth by twisting and abusing His Word,] and sexually immoral and [tongue and physical] murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie, [false doctrine especially.] I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the [assemblies of believers...]”
