THE REBIRTH

As the cataclysmic spiritual (and eventually the physical death) of all mankind occurred in Eden, there had to be a new beginning for mankind.  A rebirth.  New life in the presence and under the blessing of God.

For this reason every true believer has to be individually and spiritually born into the New Covenant, just as Adam was created into his relationship with God - Rev. 22:17; Jn 1:12-13; 3:3-5.

A newborn baby cannot bring anything into this world.  Nothing in the sphere of the womb means anything in this new life.  It will profit the baby nothing to cling to anything of the old life inside the womb.  The baby has to accept everything this new life has to offer.  The baby has to embrace the new life and grow therein; otherwise he or she will never become a responsible, mature person: Eph. 4:17-24; Col. 3:9-17.

In the same way our comatosed spirit must be born again through faith in Jesus Christ, and by our personal, individual and willing acceptance of His fulfilment of the Dual Law in our place.  This is the only way in which we can escape hamartia and hamartanö – the separation from God in a place or position of sin and –cursedness, to become spiritual beings once again: Rom. 3:23-24; Eph. 2:8-9; Jn. 4:23-24.

Jesus explained in Jn 3:3,5b-6: “Except you are [spiritually] born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God…  Except you are born of water, [the power of the Gospel, of which baptism is the symbol], and of the Spirit, [the conviction and supernatural work of the Holy Spirit], you cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” – Jn. 6:63.

John wrote in 1:12-13: “As many as received Him [wholeheartedly], to them He gave power to become the children of God…  Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” And Paul stated in 2 Cor. 5:17 and in Gal. 2:20: “If anyone is in Christ, he [or she] is a new-born creature.  Old things, [the cursed sin-state of the former physical life without Christ], have passed away, behold, all things have become [spiritually] new…  I am crucified with Christ: [hamartia, the old state of sin containing my sinful deeds and desires is dead], nevertheless I live [physically and spiritually]; yet not I, but Christ lives in me.  And the [new] life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”

Only those who live spiritually can see, experience and enter into, (belong to, share in) the spiritual kingdom of God.  Only born again believers can really understand God’s Word, way and will.  Only those who live spiritually and show the fruit of it are the children of God – Jn. 6:63; Rom. 8:5-17.  Spirit calls and answers only to spirit.

Humankind has to live spiritually to be in contact with God the Spirit: Jn. 4:23-24.

All other so-called doorways to God and His heaven are merely cheap imitations.

In order to be born again, we need to realise and confess that we are sinners in a spiritually lifeless position without God.  Each one of us personally needs the one, true Saviour to escape from our intolerable condition of hamartia and hamartanö: Rom. 3:21-24; 10:6-13.  Jesus paid our entire state of sin and -cursedness so that we may ask God’s forgiveness and come into a right standing with Him: Eph. 1:7; 1 Jn. 1:8-10.

We can do absolutely nothing to save or redeem ourselves, except call on His Name and truly believe in His completed work in your place: Isa. 53:3-10; Rom. 10:9-13.

Once we completely understand Who the Lord Jesus Christ Is and what He has done for each one of us personally, we must actively decide to accept Him into our hearts, (or spirits), souls (or minds), and into our lives by executing the free will that God had given us.  This is not “working for our salvation” or “adding to the completed work of Christ”, as some might say.  This is our personal responsibility - the decision to obediently repent of our old, sinful life and to turn wholeheartedly to Christ.

God will not choose for us; this has to be our own decision.

Obedience is always a personal choice and it has nothing to do with our emotions.

If we decide to accept the Christ, we need to confess it out loud and ask Him to be our personal Saviour and Redeemer.  Then we only need to thank Him and always believe that He hears and answers us, because He does - Rom. 10:9-10; Eph. 4:22-24.

The rebirth is neither catechetical, nor ceremonial.  It is a sincere prayer from the heart.  All that it requires is for someone to bring us this wonderful news.  The Holy Spirit and the Word will do all that is necessary: Jn. 16:7-14; 6:63.

The moment we sincerely accept Jesus and His atoning work in our place, our spirits are born again into the kingdom of God.  From that moment on God will be our personal Father and we can worship Him in spirit and in truth: Jn. 1:12-13; 4:23-24.

Humankind decided to eat of the forbidden fruit in Eden.  They took Satan’s nature, seed or ‘DNA’ inside of them and they died.  Likewise, humankind must voluntarily decide to accept or ‘take in’ God’s Nature, Seed or ‘DNA’ to live again.

We must ‘eat’ spiritually of Jesus, the Tree of Life, to regain the truthful, loving nature of God.  Those who decide to eat of Him will live forever. “I assure you,” Jesus said in Jn 6:53-56, “you cannot have any [spiritual] life in you unless you [spiritually] eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood.  He who [continually] feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up from the dead on the last day.  For My flesh is genuine food, and my blood is genuine [spiritual] drink.”

The physical fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil killed humankind spiritually and destroyed them physically; the physical fruit of the Tree of Life, the atoning work of the man Jesus Christ, brings humankind back to the abundant life of God: Jn. 10:10.  The only way to escape hamartia is through His atoning work.

Consequently, Jesus declared in Jn. 14:6: “I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes unto the Father, but by Me.”

Humankind cannot join God’s church or kingdom; they have to be born into it.

God reversed the sad situation of Eden by giving His only “begotten” Son in their place.

But born again believers do not only walk with the Spirit as Adam and Eve did.

God had a far better plan for them.
